NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt right-handed pitcher Grayson Moore was drafted by the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday with the 416th overall pick in the 14th round of the 2023 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

The junior from Longwood, Florida, made 12 appearances this season and owned a 3.16 ERA over 26.1 innings pitched. Moore has recorded 81 strikeouts over the past three seasons, averaging 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings.

He struck out a career-high eight batters over 3.2 innings in Vanderbilt’s win over Central Arkansas on February 21. In his last outing of the season, the righty tossed four no-hit innings against Oregon in the NCAA Nashville Regional.

Moore marks seven Commodores selected in the 2023 MLB Draft. That figure is tied for third most among SEC institutions.
