Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt went 2-2 on the week, winning 11-5 on Tuesday night at home against Georgia State and taking one of three games in the weekend series at Alabama. The Commodores overpowered the Panthers in the midweek contest, hitting four home runs in the win. Davis Diaz homered and drove in three runs while Parker Noland added two RBI on a 2-for-3 evening.

The Commodores fell 11-2 in the series opener at Alabama on Thursday night. The Dores rallied behind starting pitcher Hunter Owen to take Game 2 on Friday, winning 4-1. Owen went seven innings while holding Alabama to one run on two hits. The junior lefty totaled nine strikeouts. Devin Futrell turned in another strong performance on the mound in Saturday’s finale, but the Crimson Tide hit a go-ahead solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to win 2-1. Futrell allowed one run on four hits over seven frames.

Vanderbilt stays on the road for four more games this week. The Dores head to Louisville for the Battle of the Barrel on Tuesday night at Jim Patterson Stadium. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Vandy then travels south to the Sunshine State for three games at No. 7 Florida in Gainesville beginning Friday.
