NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt lacrosse looks to get back into the win column Tuesday afternoon against Towson. The game will start at 1 p.m. and be broadcasted on ESPN+.
Last Outing
Vanderbilt dropped its conference opener on the road at Cincinnati last weekend 19-6. The Bearcats controlled the opening quarter, leaving Vandy shotless in the first 15 minutes. Ellie Hilsabeck connected on her second goal of the season just 26 seconds into the second period to get the Dores on the board. Cincinnati responded with three-consecutive goals to go up 6-1. Lila Huddles connected for her first goal of the day at the 7:44 mark of the second, but the Commodores would be unable to find the back of the cage for the rest of the half. Cincinnati led 10-2 at the break.
In the third, Sammy Nuchow found Huddles for her second goal of the game (fifth of the season) at the halfway point of the quarter. The senior’s third goal came in the fourth as Vandy trailed 17-4.
Paige Finneran connected on back-to-back goals but the Bearcats went on to win 19-6.
The Tigers Report
Towson opened up Colonial Athletic Association play last weekend, defeating Drexel. Despite a late comeback by Drexel the Tigers held on to win 11-7.
Towson dominated the draw against the Dragons, 16-6, including a 5-0 edge in the final period. Towson’s Blair Pearre tallied four draw controls, three ground balls, two goals, two caused turnovers and one assist. Additionally, the Tigers’ goalie, Jo Torres, registered eight saves.
Towson is 5-3 on the season, with losses to #8/14 Loyola (Md.), Saint Joseph’s and #25 Penn State.
Series History
Tuesday’s matchup will be just the third meeting between the two teams. All-time, the Dores lead 2-0 in the series that started with a 9-5 win in 2000. The only other meeting came in 2022 with a 14-8 decision in favor of Vanderbilt.
