NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt football players Anfernee Orji and Bradley Ashmore were named preseason All-SEC by Athlon in the publication’s annual college football preview released this week.
Orji is a third-team selection for 2022 after the linebacker led the Commodores in tackles last fall with 93. The Rockwall, Texas, native added 13 tackles for loss and started all 12 contests. He finished 12th in the league in total tackles and had 13 tackles in Vandy’s win at Colorado State, most by a Commodore in a game that season.
Ashmore was selected to the fourth team after starting all 12 games at right tackle a year ago. He allowed just four sacks on the year while playing 773 snaps and he was not flagged for a penalty over the final seven games of the season. The Neptune Beach, Florida, native has played in all 21 games since arriving on campus.
The Commodores open their second season under the direction of head coach Clark Lea at Hawai’i at 9:30 p.m. CT on Aug. 27 on CBS Sports Network. The home opener is set for 6 p.m. CT on Sept. 3 against Elon. Season tickets, group sales and mini-plans are available now.
