NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Melissa Hawkins and Ellie Hilsabeck each earned recognition from the American Athletic Conference on Monday after their performances in Vanderbilt’s 14-12 win over No. 12 Notre Dame on Saturday.

Hawkins was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week after three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Her efforts helped the Vandy defense hold Notre Dame to just five second-half goals.

A fifth-year senior, Hawkins ranks second in career caused turnovers and fourth in career ground balls among active NCAA Division I student-athletes

Hilsabeck was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after scoring a team-high four goals Saturday. Her fourth goal with 1:27 on the clock increased Vanderbilt’s lead to two and put the contest out of reach.

Vanderbilt moved into the top 25 in two national polls after the win. The Commodores come in at No. 22 in the ILWomen/IWLCA Top 25 and No. 17 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Top 20.

The Dores begin a three-game road stretch at noon Friday at Elon.
