NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s basketball junior Jordan Wright earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team (District 3).
The human and organizational development major boasts a 3.53 grade point average in the classroom. District 3 includes student-athletes from universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia. The academic honor recognizes the country’s top student-athletes for their performances both on and off the court.
With the recognition, Wright advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot with honorees announced mid-March. With enough votes in the following round of voting, Wright would become the first Vanderbilt men’s basketball student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors since Luke Kornet in 2017. Vandy men’s basketball student-athletes have won Academic All-America honors seven times.
Wright leads the Commodores with five double-doubles on the season. The native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is second on the Commodores with 12.2 points per game to go with a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game.
For the season, Wright has scored in double figures in 17 of the Dores’ 25 games.
Wright and the Commodores host Texas A&M at 5 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium.
