NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Competing last weekend at No. 1 doubles and on Court 5 in singles, Amy Stevens went undefeated and has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference Wednesday.

Amy was fantastic against East Tennessee State,” Vanderbilt head coach Aleke Tsoubanos said. “She played a very clean and dominant match and allowed us to even the score quickly after losing the doubles point and shift momentum in the dual.”

In four sets over two days, Stevens dropped just one game at singles and rolled to a 6-1 win at doubles.

As part of a doubleheader Feb. 4, Stevens teamed up with Anna Ross on the top court to defeat North Alabama 6-1. Stevens then went on to boast a pair of 6-0 sets to lift her team to the sweep over the Lions.

On Feb. 6, the rookie continued her successes with another singles victory in straight sets, dropping one game in the first to finish 6-1, before sweeping the second set 6-0 to even up the match score at 1-1.

The honor is the first of Stevens’ career.
