The Elite New Era

  • As announced on April 13, 2021, Shea Ralph was named the sixth head coach in Vanderbilt women’s basketball history.
  • Ralph announced her inaugural coaching staff with the additions of Tom Garrick, Ashley Earley and Kevin DeMille.
  • Garrick, former associate head coach, and Earley, former assistant coach, make their returns to the Vanderbilt coaching staff, both in their second stints with the Commodores.
  • Christina Foggie, former student-athlete from 2010-14, returns to Vanderbilt as the chief of staff.
  • Kyla Irwin, former student-athlete of Ralph’s at UConn, was appointed as the Director of Player Development and Community Relations.

Fresh Faces

  • Vanderbilt returns two starters Yaubryon Chambers, all eight games, and Brinae Alexander, five game starts, from the shortened 2020-21 season.
  • After losing six players to graduation and the transfer portal, Vandy welcomes six newcomers a combination of five true freshmen and one graduate transfer.

Raiders Rundown…

  • Middle Tennessee has started the 2021-22 season on a two-game winning streak after beating East Carolina (W, 70-49) and VCU (W, 54-46).
  • Rick Insell is Middle Tennessee’s all-time winningest basketball coach with 380 wins. 
  • Rick Insell is third among active coaches in their 17th season or less for wins. Insell is entering his 17th season leading his alma mater. 
  • The Lady Raiders have 945 all-time wins. They are seeking to become just the 28th Division I women’s basketball team (out of 351) with 950 all-time victories. 
  • The Lady Raiders have six international players on the roster – the most ever for a single season at Middle Tennessee. The previous high for a single season was three. The players hail from Belarus, Canada, Isreal, Russia (2) and Spain. 
  • Middle Tennessee welcomes seven newcomers to the roster in 2021-22: five freshmen and two transfers. 

A Bird’s Eye View…

  • Tennessee Tech has commenced the season with back-to-back victories against Bethel (TN) 85-46 and Chattanooga 85-58.
  • Head coach Kim Rosamond is in her sixth season at the helm.
  • The Golden Eagles bolster a well-balanced team with several freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors, one senior and five graduates.
  • Tennessee Tech was picked second in the Ohio Valley Conference just behind Belmont. The Golden Eagles earned an unprecedented four selections on the preseason all-OVC squad the quartet of Kesha Brady, Jordan Brock, Mackenzie Coleman and Anna Jones.

  •  Break Middle Tennessee’s two game winning streak.
  •  Put the all-time series against the Blue Raiders at 9-10, bringing Vandy one game closer to tying the series.
  •  Put Vanderbilt back in the win column after Friday’s loss to Little Rock.

  •  Give Middle Tennessee a favorable 11-8 lead in the all-time series
  • Put Vanderbilt on a two game losing skid.
  • Be the Commodores first Monday night loss of the season.

On Deck

  •  Vanderbilt will face Jacksonville State on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium before heading to the Virgin Islands for the three-day Paradise Jam tournament. The Commodores will take on Arizona, Rutgers and DePaul.
