While Vanderbilt finished at No. 29 in the nation in 2021, Cal finished No. 13 in the country to earn hosting privileges in 2022. San Diego closed the season at No. 37 in the nation while BYU checked in at No. 74.
The Commodores have reached the ITA Team Indoor Championship seven times in the last eight years they’ve been eligible. After winning ITA Kickoff Weekend pods every year from 2013-19, Vanderbilt was not eligible for the 2021 event because it opted out of ITA Kickoff Weekend due to uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, therefore making it ineligible to earn a spot in the 2021 Team Indoor Championship.
