Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt posted a 2-2 record on the week. The Commodores began the week with a 3-2 midweek win over North Alabama. The win marked Vanderbilt’s 22nd consecutive midweek victory at home – a streak that dates to the 2019 season. Following the win over the Lions, the Commodores traveled to Oxford for the weekend for their final SEC road series of the season against No. 18 Ole Miss. Vanderbilt dropped the series opener to the Rebels, 3-1, as Ole Miss used a pair of home runs to surge to victory. Kumar Rocker suffered just his second loss of the season despite turning in a quality start. The right-hander worked 7.0 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits, while walking one and striking out eight. The Commodores bounced back on Saturday with an offensive response, as the team belted seven home runs en route to a 13-2 win over Ole Miss to even the series. The performance marked the most home runs in a single game for Vanderbilt since the Dores blasted nine homers in the 2018 NCAA Regional against Clemson on June 3, 2018. Jack Leiter provided Vanderbilt with an impressive outing, working 6.0 innings of one-run baseball, while racking up 13 strikeouts in the effort. Ole Miss claimed the series finale against Vanderbilt, as a 10-run third inning proved to be the difference. The Commodores battled back from the 10-2 deficit to make it a three-run game on multiple occasions, but could not complete the comeback as the Rebels held on for the 13-10 victory.
