Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt posted a 3-1 record on the week. The Commodores began the week with a 6-4 midweek win over Eastern Kentucky, marking the team’s 24th consecutive win in the midweek – a streak that dates to March 2019. The two teams traded runs across the first few innings resulting in a 2-2 ballgame after four frames of action. Vanderbilt seized control with four runs in the fifth before Eastern Kentucky closed the gap in the final two innings. The weekend saw Vanderbilt claim its sixth consecutive SEC road series – a streak that dates to 2019 – as the team made the quick trip to Knoxville for a top-five matchup. Junior Kumar Rocker earned his eighth win of the season with 7.0 shutout innings in Friday’s series opener, as the Commodores defeated the fifth-ranked Volunteers, 5-0. The Commodores dropped the second matchup of the weekend before bouncing back to take the finale and claim the series. Vandy registered three home runs on Sunday en route to claiming a 10-4 victory over its in-state foe. Sophomore Chris McElvain picked up the win behind a career-long 4.0 innings of work in relief. The series win marked Vanderbilt’s first road series win over a top-five opponent since taking two of three at then-No. 4 Florida on May 8-10, 2014.
