AUGUSTA, Ga. — Vanderbilt junior Auston Kim completed an impressive and memorable week in Georgia on Saturday with her final round at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Kim, from St. Augustine, Florida, finished 11-over-par for the event and tied for 25th.

Kim was one of 30 players competing at the famed Augusta National Golf Club. After starting the day even-par for the tournament, she played at 2-over-par on the front nine by shooting birdies on No. 7 and No. 8.

Consecutive double bogeys on the back nine, however, took her out of contention.

“These past few weeks have been very eye-opening as to what I need to work on,” Kim said Thursday. “One of my teammates said the other day that the small things add up and they really matter – and she’s younger than me and she pointed that out.

“I mean, I’ve always worked on those since I was young, since I was a freshman, but it took some time to come to that realization and working on those small keys, again, on those fundamentals and small things that I can control, those are big game changers lately.”

Kim advanced to Saturday’s final round by shooting a par 72 both Wednesday and Thursday. She recorded six birdies during her opening round and three more Thursday while also scoring an eagle on No. 3.

Abbey Carlson, a 2020 Vanderbilt graduate, competed in the first two rounds of the event before missing the cut. The former All-American finished 16-over par.

Both Carlson and Kim were afforded the opportunity to play a practice round Friday at Augusta National Golf Club.
