NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The nation took notice to Gabby Fornia’s record-setting performance as the senior earned US Lacrosse Division I Women’s Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Fornia, who was named American Athletic Conference Attack Player of the Week on Monday, earned her recognition after posting five goals and 10 assists in her two games last week versus East Carolina.
Her performance was highlighted by Sunday’s breakout game with three goals and nine assists for 12 points.
Nine assists set the Vanderbilt and AAC record for single-game assists. They are the most by an NCAA Division I student-athlete during the 2021 season, and just two shy of the all-time D-1 single-game assists record of 11.
Her 12 points tied the school’s single-game points record and broke the AAC mark. The 12 points are tied for the most in a D-1 game this season.
