NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt junior JJ Bleday and sophomore Austin Martin have been named Baseball America’s first-team All-Americans, the publication announced Monday.
Vanderbilt is the only team to have two first-team honorees and one of 12 schools to have multiple honorees across the three teams. Under head coach Tim Corbin, 42 players have been named All-America including 13 first-team honorees.
Martin ranks second nationally in runs (83), third in hits (100), sixth in batting average (.410), 15th in on-base percentage (.503) and 20th in total bases (151). The Jacksonville, Florida, native leads the Commodores with 33 multi-hit games and boasts a 33-game on-base streak.
Bleday leads the nation in home runs (26) and is second in total bases (182), sixth in runs (77), 13th in slugging percentage (.717) 15th in hits (89) and 18th in walks (54). The Panama City Beach, Florida, native was selected fourth overall in the MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins and is among four finalists for the Golden Spikes Award.
