FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Commodores posted the second-lowest round of the day and one of only two under par in the third round of the NCAA Championships and are in sixth place heading into the fourth and final round of stroke play at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Vanderbilt carded a 1-under-par 287 team score and were led by freshman Reid Davenport, who finished his round with a 2-under-par 70 Sunday on the 7,550-yard layout.
In three rounds, Vanderbilt has a team score of 18-over par 882 (307-288-287).
The Commodores have secured a spot in the fourth and final round Monday, which goes to the top 15 teams, and are 11 shots clear of the eight-team match play cut, which is determined after Monday’s final 18 holes of stroke play.
All five Vanderbilt players were a factor on Sunday, with Davenport posting his third-round 70, his best round of the tournament so far, to lead Vanderbilt. The Commodores also counted a 1-under-par 71 from senior Will Gordon, an even-par 72 from junior John Augenstein, and a 2-over-par 74 from senior Patrick Martin. Sophomore Harrison Ott finished one shot back of Martin with a 3-over-par 75.
