NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s tennis will advance to its fifth straight NCAA quarterfinals after a 4-0 victory over Texas A&M in the Super Regionals on Saturday at the Currey Tennis Center.
“I thought we played with a lot of desire and heart today. We played a very competitive match against a really good team to advance to the quarterfinals,” said head coach Geoff Macdonald.
The Commodores earned a solid start in doubles securing the first doubles victory on Court 2.
Senior Fernanda Contreras and freshman Georgia Drummy teamed up to take down Aggie pair Katya Townsend and Renee McBryde. Holding the tandem to only one game, the Commodore duo earned an early lead for the Dores.
With the doubles point coming down to Court 3, junior Christina Rosca and sophomore Amanda Meyer stepped up to earn the victory over Texas A&M’s Riley McQuaid and Lucia Quiterio, 6-4 to put the Dores up 1-0 over the Aggies.
