NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s tennis will compete in its sixth consecutive NCAA Sweet Sixteen on Saturday as the Commodores host Texas A&M at 11 a.m. CT at the Vanderbilt Currey Tennis Center.
The Commodores will enter the Sweet Sixteen as the No. 8 seed sporting an 18-7 overall record after sweeping the NCAA Regional last weekend with wins over Miami (Ohio), 4-0, and Georgia Tech, 4-0.
“We’re excited to be hosting a Super Regional.” said head coach Geoff Macdonald. “I hope Nashville tennis fans come out and support this great team, it will be a heck of a match. Texas A&M beat us a couple months ago in College Station. They played a great match and we have a lot of respect for them. I think it is going to be a fantastic match to see who can move on to the Elite Eight.”
The Dores feature five nationally ranked student-athletes entering the NCAA Super Regionals: Fernanda Contreras (No. 6), Christina Rosca (No. 18), Georgia Drummy (No. 64), Amanda Meyer (No. 93) and Emily Smith (No. 117).
Leading the Commodores in doubles, Smith and Emma Kurtz check in at No. 38 according to the Oracle ITA Rankings.
