Vanderbilt freshman point guard Darius Garland was named as a second-team All-SEC preseason selection by the league’s 14 coaches in an announcement made by the SEC Office on Tuesday.
Garland, a McDonald’s All-American and the top point guard in the class of 2018, is the only freshman representative on this year’s preseason teams, which features 18 players on the first and second teams.
Garland and his Commodore teammates begin their season on Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. against Winthrop.
