NASHVILLE – For the second time this season, Vanderbilt redshirt junior Jared Pinkney has been named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Pinkney registered five catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns, helping Vanderbilt earn a 45-31 road victory over Arkansas last Saturday in Fayetteville. His performance included an acrobatic 40-yard catch-and-run that resulted in a score and lead that VU never relinquished.
Pinkney has established new single-season highs this year with 30 catches, 485 receiving yards and five touchdowns. The Norcross, Ga., native was also named the organization’s tight end of the week on Sept. 19, after recording five receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown at Notre Dame.
The 2018 John Mackey recipient will be announced on December 5, 2018 and then presented live on December 6, 2018 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.
The John Mackey Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football. The 24 awards boast over 750 years of tradition-selection excellence.
