NASHVILLE – Haley Hopkins received SEC Freshman of the Week honors it was announced today. It was the first such honor for Hopkins in her career.
Hopkins earned the honor after scoring two goals in the 5-0 win against Georgia. It was Hopkins’ third multi-goal game of the season with the first coming against North and Alabama and the second vs Alabama.
The redshirt freshman from Newport Beach has risen to form after sitting out almost all of last season with an injury.
Hopkins leads the team with nine goals this season, and that mark is good for second in the SEC. She is also second in the SEC in points with 22. Her four game-winning goals also rank fourth in the country.
Hopkins and the Dores take on No. 25 Mississippi State on Thursday to try to extend their winning streak to a program record 12 straight wins.
