Wahner, Gainor make match play at Junior Gold

DALLAS—Vanderbilt Commodores Adel Wahner and Samantha Gainor made the coveted match play round of the Junior Gold, signifying a Top 16 finish at the prestigious event, but both fell in the first round of the double elimination tournament. 

Wahner ended up seventh in the field of 855 and dropped a 408-375 first-round match to Justine Brookman while Gainor was 14th and lost by just three pins to Olivia Farwell, 385-381. Wahner meets Kamerin Peters and Gainor faces Tori McQuerry in the first round of the elimination bracket. 

Brogan Zengel, an incoming freshman, was an impressive 27th and classmate Angelique Dalesandro was 100th in this event that draws the best bowlers from around the nation. Complete results are found on bowl.com
