DALLAS—-Four of the seven Vanderbilt bowlers made the first cut to the Advancer’s Round Thursday at the Junior Gold Championship.
Freshman Brogan Zengel led the way for the Commodores by placing 25th after 16 games during the week while junior Adel Wahner was right behind in 26th. Samantha Gainor, who had held fifth place for the first three days of the tournament had a rough day and is now in 33rd. Freshman Angelique Dalesandro is 76th as the field of 855 was trimmed to 124.
Zengel had games of 197-238-192-159 and Wahner was very steady with three games over 211. Dalesandro caught the attention of her center by rolling a 299 in the second game of her four-game set.
Kelsey Abrahamsen, Bryanna Leyen and Lauren Potechin didn’t survive the cut.
The Advancer’s Rounds progress Friday and the tournament concludes with match play Saturday. Complete results are found on bowl.com.
