HOOVER, Ala. – Vanderbilt shortstop Connor Kaiser has been named to the 2018 Southeastern Conference All-Defensive Team, the league office announced Monday.
The junior is one of two shortstops nationally (Houston Baptist’s Tyler Depreta-Johnson) with just one error in 200-plus chances. Kaiser enters Tuesday boasting a .995 fielding percentage and has one error in 202 chances.
The Overland Park, Kansas, native had started 135-straight games at shortstop (April 9, 2016-May 5, 2018) before sitting out three games due to back spasms. Kaiser has played a hand in 21 Commodore double plays this season.
The announcement comes one day prior to the opening of the SEC Tournament. The six-seed Commodores square off against No. 11-seed Texas A&M at 9:30 a.m. on the SEC Network.
