The second-ranked Vanderbilt women’s tennis team hits the road this weekend, facing the Mississippi State Bulldogs Thursday at 3 p.m. in Starkville, Miss.
Vanderbilt heads into the weekend undefeated in Southeastern Conference play, picking up wins last weekend over Missouri and Arkansas. The Bulldogs (10-5, 1-3) will be Vandy’s fifth SEC opponent of the season, having picked up their lone league win over Alabama, 4-3.
On Tuesday the ITA ranked the Commodores second in their team poll, which ties the Dores’ highest ranking of the season. Individually, VU boasts four ranked singles players: No. 5 Fernanda Contreras, No. 22 Astra Sharma, No. 27 Christina Rosca and No. 98 Amanda Meyer. Vanderbilt could field two top-30 tandems: No. 20 Rosca/ Emma Kurtz and No. 26 Contreras/Sharma.
