Team Notes:
+ Vanderbilt fell 74-67 at the hands of No. 20/21 Kentucky on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gym. The Dores outscored the Wildcats by a pair in the second half but found themselves down nine at the intermission.
+ Despite taking a one-point lead with 7:58 to play, the Dores would never go back in front, falling to 1-7 when trailing at the break this season.
+ After hitting 12-of-13 from the free throw line in the first half, the Dores struggled from the charity stripe in the second, making just 6 of 12.
+ Vanderbilt was held without a point over the last 2:50 of the half. A 6-0 Kentucky run to close the frame pushed the Wildcats lead to a game-high nine points.
+ The Dores were held to 1-for-11 (9 percent) from behind the arc and shot just 26 percent overall in the first half but turned it around in the second, hitting 5-of-14.
+ Vanderbilt climbed back within four at 49-45, hitting 5-of-7 shots including a 3-pointer from Jeff Roberson with 13:25 to play. Another trey from Payton Willis cut the deficit to a pair and was the fourth-straight make for the Commodores.
+ Vandy hit four of its first five 3-pointers to begin the second half, including a pair from Roberson. The last trey cut the Wildcats’ lead to three points at 54-51 with 11:29 left and marked the fifth-straight made bucket for the Dores.
+ Vandy took its first lead since 16:41 in the first half as Willis drove and drained in the bucket, putting the Dores up 56-55. Vanderbilt held the Wildcats without a bucket over 2 ½ minutes while hitting six consecutive from the floor.
+ The Dores held Kentucky without a bucket for 3 ½ minutes until forward Kevin Knox drove to the basket, hit the basket and was fouled. The lay in broke a 59-all tie and provided the Wildcats a 61-59 advantage.
Player Notes:
+ For the sixth time in the last seven games, forward Jeff Roberson produced 15-plus points. The senior finished three points off his career high, accounting for 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting. For the ninth time this season, the Houston native was perfect from the charity stripe, finishing 6-for-6.
+ Saben Lee registered double-digit points for a sixth-straight game, finishing with 12 total.
+ Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Kentucky with 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting while adding a game-high six assists. The guard entered play averaging 11.8 points per game.
