Vanderbilt assistant coach Josie Barnes continues to lead the pack of professionals and elite amateurs at the USBC Team Trails in Las Vegas Friday.

Barnes had a consistently strong six games – all over 200 – and closed with a 234-234 to finish eighth for the day. That finish (8 points) when added to her prior 5 points gives the former Commodore All-American 13 for the three days  half of the total of second place Jordan Richards, an amateur who competes for Arkansas State.

The top 10 includes the entire USA team that competed in December’s World Championship. Stephanie Johnson is third, Shannon O’Keefe fifth, Danielle McEwan sixth, Kelly Kulick eighth and Shannon Pluhowsky is ninth with one more round and then stepladder competition to determine the champion.

The top four finishers earn automatic spots on the 2018 Team USA. Other bowlers with Vanderbilt ties are Amanda Fry (41), Adel Wahner (48), Jordan Newham (50), Samantha Gainor 65 and Kasey Eaton (84).
