Vanderbilt continued preparations for the season-opener against Middle Tennessee on Thursday morning practicing for nearly two hours. The squad spent the majority of the day working in team drills and situations.
The Commodores’ defense was sharp throughout the practice with seniors Tre Herndon and Oren Burks picking off passes. Kyle Shurmur was impressive in goal line situations, finding Jared Pinkney for a score and Trey Ellis for another. Ellis’ catch came when he dove for a pass in the corner of the end zone.
