Day Four: Virgin Islands

Day Four: Virgin IslandsDay Four: Virgin Islands

Aug. 15, 2017

Day four of the Commodores’ tour of the U.S. Virgin Islands was their only scheduled day off of the trip, and the team and travel party made the most of the day, spending the morning on a turtle cruise in the waters off of St. Thomas and the afternoon catching up on some sleep before going into Charlotte Amalie for the first time for dinner.

But all of the guys would agree that the highlight of the day was the turtle cruise, because let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to swim and snorkel with turtles and tropical fish in some of the bluest, clearest water in the entire world?

The experience did not disappoint, and we all saw what we came for – giant sea turtles at the bottom of 10 to 15 foot waters who would occasionally bubble to the surface, where we would watch them in masks and snorkels, sometimes within arm’s distance.  In fact, there were a few times it seemed the turtles would just come to the surface to size us up before heading back to their comfortable place on the bottom of the bay.  Like look you-in-the-eye, size-you-up type of stuff.  It was an amazing experience, and if you’re in this part of the world, it is a must do.  They are majestic creatures.

After the snorkeling extravaganza, the Commodores got back aboard the catamaran, where many of the guys jumped in off of the side of the boat, and a few guys, Riley and Maxwell, actually got a chance to drive the boat on the way back to the hotel.

Playing games is the reason why we make trips like these, but excursions and team bonding, like what happened today, are equally important.  Today was a great day for that.

Wednesday Schedule
After the day off, The Commodores will face off against Brock University out of Canada Wedneday evening at 6 p.m. ET at the University of the Virgin Islands in game three of their tour.
