The Rundown
The Vanderbilt track and field program is sending six athletes to Lexington, Ky. this weekend to compete in the NCAA East Regionals. The top 12 athletes from the meet will go on to compete at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. from June 7-10.
The Vanderbilt Lineup
Five of Vanderbilt’s six qualifying athletes will compete across three different events on Thursday, including Sarah Bell and Caleigh Lofstead in the pole vault, Jenn Edobi and the 400-meter dash prelims and Courtney Clayton competing alongside teammate Reagan Bustamante in the 800-meter run prelims. The regional finals for the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run, which will feature 12 athletes apiece, will take place on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively. Carmen Carlos will be the final Commodore athlete to compete for the weekend a will race in the 5000-meter run at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday. Below is a full breakdown of Vanderbilt’s schedule (all times central CST) and a chart of where each athlete is seeded in the field:
Thursday
Pole Vault (3:30 p.m.) – Sarah Bell and Caleigh Lofstead
*400-meter dash (6:20 p.m.) – Jenn Edobi
*800-meter run (7:10 p.m.) – Courtney Clayton and Reagan Bustamante
Friday
400-meter dash finals (4:30 p.m.) – TBD

Saturday
5000-meter run (7:05 p.m.) – Carmen Carlos

About the NCAA Regionals
Each Division I program is given either an East or West designation based on geography and the schools are then split up into two separate regional meets. In order to qualify for the NCAA Regionals, athletes must rank among the top 48 in their region for their respective events.
