TAMING THE TIGERS
Vanderbilt welcomes Missouri back to Hawkins Field for the first time since 2015. Last year at Mizzou, the Commodores swept the Tigers for the fourth straight time, rallying to win the first two games of the series before finishing the sweep with an exclamation point in a 17-7 win. On Friday night, VU rallied for four runs with two outs in the ninth with Bryan Reynolds hitting a dramatic two-run homer to put the Dores in front for good. Kyle Wright and Tanner Houck battled on Saturday as the two teams went scoreless for 10 innings before RBI-singles from Jason Delay and Alonzo Jones made the difference in a 2-0 victory. Vanderbilt is 14-0 all-time against the Tigers dating back to Missouri’s first year in the conference in 2013.

FLIP FLOP AT THE TOP
Vanderbilt is 6-4 in the first two games of a series since flip flopping pitchers Patrick Raby and Kyle Wright with Raby moving to the game one starter role and Wright to the game 2 starter. With Wright in the first position and Raby in the second, the Commodores were 6-6 through the first six weeks of the season. Since the switch, both pitchers have prospered. Raby is 3-1 with a 3.24 ERA with a complete game under his belt. Wright has punched out 27 in 27.1 innings with opponents hitting just .196 while posting an ERA of almost a full run lower than his first six starts.

INFANTE HOMERS, DORES WIN
Julian Infante enters the week leading the Commodores with a .335 batting average and is second on the squad with nine home runs. When the sophomore homers, the Dores are a perfect 9-0 this season, including 5-0 in Southeastern Conference games. Infante’s offense has been a big key in Vanderbilt’s wins, hitting .368 with team-highs of 35 RBIs and 33 runs scored. As a team, VU is hitting .316 and averaging 8.7 runs per game in victories compared to .212 and 3.1 runs per game in losses.

TO DH OR NOT DH
Reed Hayes has started 16 games as the Commodores’ designated hitter this season. He’s also come off the bench nine times to fill the DH role for Vandy. With his name on Tim Corbin’s starting lineup card, Hayes is hitting .286 (17-for-59) with three extra-base hits, 19 RBIs and 12 runs scored. Coming off the bench, the junior is hitting .324 (12-for-37) with six extra base hits and 11 RBIs.

SNEDS AT THE HAWK
Former Commodore golfer Brandt Snedeker will be at Hawkins Field with the Ryder Cup on Sunday. The 2012 FedEx Cup champ will throw out the first pitch before the game. Zac Ellis caught up with Snedeker earlier this week, read here.
