VANDERBILT RE-VU
Vanderbilt used another stellar Chandler Day start on Tuesday night to shut out UT Martin 11-0. Day punched out a career-best 10 over six scoreless innings for his fifth win of the year. The Commodores salvaged the series finale with a 6-4 victory on Sunday at Kentucky. Will Toffey hit a two-run homer and Julian Infante added a solo shot in the win. Vanderbilt dropped the series at Kentucky with a 7-4 loss on Saturday. Jeren Kendall hit a pair of homers and drove in four runs in the loss. The Commodores fell behind early on Friday night at Kentucky in a 10-3 loss in the series opener. Patrick Raby took the loss after allowing a career-high seven runs, six earned, over five innings.

THE COMMODORES AND CAROLINA
Vanderbilt renews its rivalry with South Carolina this weekend with the two teams having split the last four series. The Commodores took two-of-three last year at Hawkins Field, winning on Thursday night in the series opener and clinching the series on Saturday with a 10-6 victory. The Gamecocks won series in 2014 and 2015 against VU after the Dores swept the two games the teams played in 2013 en route to a league record 26-3 mark. Vanderbilt is 30-54 all-time against South Carolina dating back to 1992 when the Gamecocks joined the Southeastern Conference.

KAISER ON A ROLL
VU shortstop Connor Kaiser enters the weekend on a seven-game hitting streak. The sophomore extended his streak on Tuesday night with an eighth inning double down the right field line. Kaiser singled three times in the win at Kentucky on Sunday to match a career-best and is 10-for-22 (.455) during the streak.

SOLID D
The Commodores’ defense has been solid over the team’s last eight games with the squad fielding .983 and making only five errors. The defense has posted five error-free games over the last eight, including three straight to match a season-best streak of errorless games.

MR. JONES
Alonzo Jones has reached base safely in 10 straight games. The sophomore has started the last four games at second base going 4-for-12 (.333) with three runs scored. Over his last seven games he is 6-for-22 (.273) with five RBIs and six runs scored. He’s also shown patience at the plate with six walks, including a career-best three walks on Tuesday night against UT Martin.

POWER SURGE
The Commodores enter Thursday night with 14 home runs in the team’s last 10 games while scoring 8.4 runs per game during the stretch. The offense has been clicking with the team hitting .301 over the last 10 games, adding 19 doubles. Jeren Kendall has been red hot over the last 10 games with five home runs, 17 runs and 13 RBIs.
