NEW YORK, N.Y. – Vanderbilt attacker Jill Doherty was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performances against Elon and Coastal Carolina, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. She is the third Commodore to earn BIG EAST honors this season.
Doherty started the week against Elon and tallied a goal, an assist, a ground ball and caused one turnover. She won seven draw controls on the evening, which tied a career high that she set last season against No. 9 Penn State.
On Sunday against the Chanticleers, Doherty notched a hat trick for the second time this season. She also dished out two assists, picked up two ground balls and won five draw controls on the afternoon.
Doherty leads the ‘Dores in draw controls (26), points (21), ground balls (11) and assists (10) five games into the season. She is also third on the team in goals with 11. Doherty currently ranks fifth all-time in school history in draw controls with 115 for her career.
The ‘Dores will be back in action this weekend as they hit the road to begin BIG EAST Conference play. They will face Villanova on Saturday at 11 am CT.
