News and Numbers
* Riley LaChance scored his 1,000th career point during the victory, becoming the 46th player in VU history to reach the mark.
* Matthew Fisher-Davis is now at 996 points for his career.
* Friday’s win marked just the third time in team history that VU has defeated Florida three times in the same season. (Also did so in 1982 and 1990)
Team Record and Series Notes:
-Vanderbilt’s overall record now sits at 19-14 and Florida drops to 24-8 overall.
-The all-time series record is 67-66 in favor of Florida
-Bryce Drew now owns a 3-0 record coaching against Florida
-This is the third time this season that the Commodores and Gators have faced off. Vanderbilt defeated Florida in Gainesville on Jan. 21 by a score of 68-66 and then once again in Memorial Gym by a 73-71 margin.
Team Notes:
-With the win, Vanderbilt will compete in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament tomorrow against the winner of the Arkansas/Ole Miss quarterfinal.
-It will be the 14th time that Vanderbilt has reached the semifinals of the conference tournament and the first time since 2013, when Commodores accomplished the feat as a No. 10 seed.
-The Commodore perimeter defense forced the Gators to shoot just 6-23 (26%) for the game from 3-point range.
-Vanderbilt made 11 team 3-pointers on 27 attempts (40%) for the game.
-It is the 17th time that Vanderbilt has made 10 or more 3-pointers and the Commodores own a 13-4 record in those games.
Player Notes:
-Riley LaChance scored game-high 18 points on 6-12 (50%) shooting from the floor.
-The 18 points put LaChance at 1,002 points scored for his career
-LaChance made four 3-pointers for the second consecutive game and it was the fifth game in a row that he had made at least one.
-He was joined in double-figures scoring by Jeff Roberson (16 points), Luke Kornet (12) and Matthew Fisher-Davis (11).
-Kornet also corralled a team-high10 rebounds, giving him his fifth double-double of the season.
-Kornet tied the school’s all-time blocks record in the first half with a rejection of a driving Florida player.
-Payton Willis led the Commodores in assists with four on the night.
