Full SEC Indoor Track & Field Awards Release
The Southeastern Conference announced its 2017 Indoor Track and Field Award on Monday, as voted on by the league’s 15 head coaches, and Vanderbilt senior Simone Charley was named to the All-SEC Second Team.
Charley jumped 44’5.25″ at the 2017 SEC Indoor Championships in the triple jump on Feb. 25, which placed third overall and earned Vanderbilt six team points at the meet. That leap also ranks first all-time on Vanderbilt’s indoor season performance list, breaking the previous school record of 44’0″, which was also set by Charley.

2017 SEC Indoor Championships RecapShe currently ranks fifth in the NCAA in the triple jump, which qualified her for the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend in College Station, Texas. Charley earned First Team All-American honors for the second consecutive year and placed second overall at last year’s NCAA Indoor Championships.

Charley is one of three Vanderbilt athletes that will be traveling to College Station, Texas for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend hosted by Texas A&M. Seniors Sarah Bell (pole vault) and Courtney Clayton (800-meters) will also compete in the meet alongside Charley. The NCAA Championships will be streamed live on ESPN3 on March 10 starting at 6:25 p.m. (ET) and March 11 starting at 4:55 p.m. (ET). A re-air of the championship will take place on Sunday, March 12 starting at 7 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2.
