Vanderbilt’s Kayla Overbeck and Erin Whalen have both been named to the SEC’s All-Freshman Team, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Overbeck and Whalen have both made tremendous impacts this season for the Commodores and have quickly emerged as rising stars in the conference.

Overbeck ranks No. 1 among all SEC freshmen in rebounds per game (7.2) and ranks No. 3 among freshman in scoring (9.5 ppg). She has posted a team-best seven double-doubles this season.

Whalen, the reigning SEC Freshman of the Week, has averaged 13.0 points over the last 11 games. For the season, Whalen is averaging 9.3 points per game, which ranks fourth among the conference’s freshmen.

Whalen has seen action in 28 games this season, including making nine starts. She is shooting 41.7 percent from 3-point range and 86.3 percent from the foul line. Whalen scored a career-high 24 points, including hitting the game-winning free throws with 2.5 seconds remaining, in last week’s win over Arkansas.

Overbeck has played in 27 games, making 12 starts, and has produced 15 double-digit scoring performances. She is shooting 52.1 percent from the floor, and was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Dec. 13.

South Carolina’s A’ja Wilson was named Player of the Year for the second consecutive year and was named Freshman of the Year for the 2014-15 season.

LSU’s Raigyne Moncrief was named Defensive Player of the Year while Mississippi State’s Teaira McCowan was voted 6th Woman of the Year. Florida’s Delicia Washington and Missouri’s Amber Smith were named Co-Freshmen of the Year.

Missouri’s Robin Pingeton being named Coach of the Year.

First-team and second-team All-SEC honorees, All-Freshman team, All-Defensive team, along with Player, Coach and Freshman, Defensive Player, 6th Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year were chosen by the league’s 14 coaches.
