No. 17 Vanderbilt split the week going 2-2 at Hawkins Field The Commodores opened the home schedule on Wednesday with a 7-4 victory over Evansville Sophomore Maddux Conger earned the win in his first career start, striking out six and allowing one run on six hits over 4.1 innings Ro Coleman helped put the game away with a two-run triple in the eighth inning Vanderbilt dropped the series opener against UIC on Friday afternoon 5-3 in 10 innings Kyle Wright was solid in a no decision allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts over six innings  Collin Snider took the loss after giving up four runs, two earned, in three-plus innings of work Jeren Kendall and Will Toffey had two hits each and JJ Bleday drove in two runs The Commodores bounced back on Saturday with a 6-2 win to even the series Patrick Raby earned the win with six innings of work, striking out six and giving up one unearned run on three hits Reed Hayes recorded the final four outs, including getting out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth, to notch his first save as a Commodore JJ Bleday posted a career day with three RBI and three hits in the win Vanderbilt dropped the series finale on Sunday afternoon in a 5-2 loss in 11 innings Matt Ruppenthal took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits over four innings of relief Freshman Drake Fellows turned in an impressive start with seven strong innings and a Vandy season-best nine strikeouts while allowing two runs on seven hits Jason Delay had a season-high three hits and Julian Infante added a pair of singles in the loss Vanderbilt begins a five-game week on Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Southeastern Louisiana as the first game of a two-game series then hosts Cal State Northridge for a three-game series starting Friday.
