NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 27/20 Vanderbilt men’s tennis team concludes non-conference play Monday taking on the No. 4 North Carolina Tar Heels at 2 p.m. inside the Currey Tennis Center.

Vanderbilt owns an 8-3 record, and is still searching for its first win over a top 25 opponent. Two student-athletes landed in the ITA’s latest singles poll with sophomore Cameron Klinger leading the ‘Dores at No. 61 in the country. Junior Daniel Valent follows in the poll at 114.

Monday’s matinee will be the second time the two schools have squared off, with the Tar Heels taking the first competition, 4-1, in Chapel Hill. The Commodores’ lone point of the match came on court three as Baker Newman downed Simon Soendergaard in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, for UNC’s first singles loss.

Tar Heels:
North Carolina travels to Nashville with an 11-1 record, having fallen 4-0 in the ITA National Team Indoor final to No. 1 Virginia.

UNC boasts three ranked singles players with Ronnie Schneider leading his squad on court one as the No. 15 player in the country. Robert Kelly (67) and William Blumberg (107) trail the senior team captain.

In tandems, UNC’s Blumberg and Kelly team up as the 16th ranked duo in the nation.
