Team Record and Series Notes:
-After Vanderbilt’s win today, South Carolina leads the all-time series 29-27.
-Tonight’s game was Bryce Drew’s first matchup against South Carolina
Team Notes:
-The victory brings the Commodores record to 14-13 overall and 7-7 in SEC play.
-Vanderbilt trailed 30-27 at halftime, but outscored South Carolina 44-32 in the second half.
-The Commodores held the Gamecocks to just one made field goal in the final 9:30 of gameplay.
-The Vanderbilt perimeter defense held South Carolina without a made 3-point field goal until PJ Dozier made one with just 24 seconds to play in the game. The Gamecocks finished 1-9 (11%) from behind the arc.
-It was the second consecutive game that opponents have shot under 20% on 3-point attempts against Vanderbilt. The Commodore defense held Texas A&M to just 3-16 (19%) from behind the arc.
-Vanderbilt’s bench outscored South Carolina’s by a 22-5 margin.
-The lead changed hands 11 different times throughout the course of the game and neither team led by double digits until Vanderbilt grabbed an 11-point lead with 28 seconds to play.
-Tonight’s game was a part of Vanderbilt’s Equality Weekend, where the University honored 21 civil rights pioneers and the team wore specially made uniforms by Nike in their honor.
Player Notes:
-Matthew Fisher-Davis led a group of three Commodores in double-figures scoring for the night with a team-high 17 points.
-Fisher-Davis has now scored 10+ points in 19 games this season, including five of the last six he has played in.
-Fisher-Davis made three 3-point field goals on the night. He now has at least one made 3-pointer in 25 of the 26 games he has played in.
-Riley LaChance and Nolan Cressler were the other Commodores in double-figures scoring with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
-LaChance was 3-6 on 3-point field goals tonight. It was the fourth straight game he has had at least two 3-pointers.
-LaChance also led Vanderbilt in assists for the night with four.
-Clevon Brown registered a new career-high in blocks with three rejections on the night.
-Luke Kornet had two blocks and it was his fifth straight game with two or more blocks.
