NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swim team is making the short trip down to Knoxville to close the season out at the 2017 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships.
The five-day championship starts on Feb. 14 and will take place at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on Tennessee’s campus. Each day will begin with prelim races starting at 10 am (ET) and ending with finals swims at 6 pm ET.

At the 2016 SEC Championships, Vanderbilt opened and closed the competition breaking a school record. In all, the Commodores broke four school records in the Missouri Tiger’s pool and finished 12th with 166 points. The `Dores have made 19 SEC Championship appearances, with the highest finish of sixth coming in 1984.
The 2017 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships feature some of the top teams and athletes from around the country.
Georgia comes into the championship the highest ranked team in the CSCAA poll. The Bulldogs are ranked fourth, followed closely by defending champion Texas A&M (No. 9) and Auburn (No. 11). Missouri (No. 13), Tennessee (No. 14), Kentucky (No. 16), Florida (No. 19), and LSU (No. 24) round out the SEC ranked in the Top-25.
The 2017 SEC Championships will begin tomorrow morning with time trails at 10 am ET followed by women’s 3-meter prelims at 2 pm ET. The Commodores will be in the pool tomorrow night starting at 6 pm ET competing in the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
