The Music City Challenge will be Vanderbilt’s fourth home track meet of the season and the first since the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 20-21.

Of the 24 teams competing this weekend, 11 of them will be making their first trip to the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility this season including Cincinnati, East Tennessee State, Georgia, Jacksonville, Illinois, Kennesaw State, Minnesota, SMU, Southeast Missouri State, UCF and Virginia Tech. After this weekend, 44 different schools will have competed at a Vanderbilt-hosted track meet for the 2016-17 season. Several of the teams competing this weekend come in boasting a top-50 national ranking. No. 3 Georgia, No. 26 Cincinnati, No. 30 Louisville, No.31 Illinois and No. 43 Virginia Tech all hold top-50 distinctions in the USTFCCCA’s women’s rankings. The 13 seniors for the track and field and cross country programs will be honored during Saturday’s portion of the meet at 12:40 p.m. before sprints begin. Seniors that will be honored include Reagan Anderson, Sarah Bell, Carmen Carlos, Skyler Carpenter, Simone Charley, Courtney Clayton, Sarah Goodale, Courtney Kriegshauser, Tierney Price, Katie Watts, Dan Arthur, Nikos Gkotsis and Jake Van Geffen.
