In a continuing effort to raise awareness and support for the fight against breast cancer, the Vanderbilt women’s basketball game against LSU on Monday, Feb. 13, has been designated as “Think Pink” night at Memorial Gym. The event is sponsored by Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Throughout the night, the Commodores will host a series of special events, including having Tina Tackett, a breast cancer survivor, serve as an honorary coach for the game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game, which tips off at 6 p.m.

“We are excited to host the Think Pink event at Memorial Gym,” said head coach Stephanie White. “This game is about celebrating and recognizing the strength and courage of those who have battled breast cancer. We are honored to use our platform to create awareness about a disease that is close to the hearts of everyone in our program.””

Other special events for the night include:

l T-shirt giveaway: The first 250 fans will receive free “Think Pink” T-shirts.
l Signatures of Support: A banner will be displayed in the Southeast Lobby of Memorial Gym for fans to sign and leave messages of encouragement. The banner will later be moved and put on display at the Medical Center.
l On-Court Recognition: When the Vanderbilt starting lineup is introduced, each Commodore player will walk out with a breast cancer survivor. Also, during the game, there will be a special game ball presentation to a breast cancer survivor.
l Valentine’s Day-themed events: Fans can visit the Southeast Lobby on Monday to take part in a Valentine’s Day card-making station — called “CommoDOREABLE” — and a photo booth with Mr. C.

Tickets for the game can be purchased by calling 615-322-GOLD or by visiting vucommodores.com.
