Vanderbilt’s bowling team travels to Arlington, Tex., for the weekend’s Prairie View A & M Invitational at the International Training and Research Center.

Tourney format: Five, 5-Game Baker matches Friday starting at 12:15 p.m. CST; Saturday’s six traditional games are at 9:30 CST. Sunday begins at 8:25 CST with one traditional game to complete the round robin with two rounds of Baker bracket following.

Competing teams: It is a small but power-packed field of college bowling elite with Arkansas State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Jackson State, Maryland-Eastern Shore, McKendree, Nebraska, North Carolina A & T, Prairie View, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin and Vanderbilt.

Steady lineup: Once again Vanderbilt is traveling with Giselle Poss, Katie Stark, Kristen Quah, Jordan Newham, Maria Bulanova, Emily Rigney and Adel Wahner.

About the tournament: Vandy has attended this quality event for years. Last season the Commodores were third after compiling a 10-2 won-loss record. All-American Robyn Renslow was the MVP of the tournament with a 236.5 average.

Surging Commodores: Vandy has been sharp since the final day of the Mid-Winter Classic in Arkansas two weeks ago. Last week it won the Kutztown Invitational over 28 teams behind the MVP performance of Giselle Poss. VU has gone 22-6 since the semester break and stands 48-20 overall.
