NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swim team will be hosting its final home meet of the season this weekend at Centennial Sportsplex. The ‘Dores will compete with Arkansas and Houston this Friday at 2 pm CT and Saturday at 11 am CT in a tri-meet. This will be the second straight season the three schools have met for a tri-meet.
The Commodores will host Senior Day for the six seniors on Saturday prior the meet. The ceremonies will begin at 10:45am CT to honor Kathryn Babbin, Carrie Bencic, Alexandra Blankenburg, Kathryn Coughlin, Rachel Koch and Kayla Moran.
This will be the Commodores first time back in the pool since the winter break and is the second straight home meet for the ‘Dores. Last time out they defeated Campbell at home 144.5-117.5. Vandy won eight races on the evening with four swimmers earning their first win of the season.
Scouting the Razorbacks: The Arkansas Razorbacks come into this weekend’s meet off of a win against Illinois in their last meet 179-118. This will be the 10th consecutive the season the Commodores and Razorbacks have met in the pool. They met last season in Fayetteville in a tri-meet with Houston and the Razorbacks prevailed 225-101 over the Commodores. This will be Arkansas’ first trip to the West End since 2015 when they defeated Vanderbilt 152-103.
Scouting the Cougars: The Houston Cougars will also be coming off a win in their last meet against Incarnate Word 200-96. This will be the second time this season the Cougars and Commodores will face off in the pool. The ‘Dores traveled to Houston in November for the Phill Hansel Invitational which the Cougars finished first overall. This will be Houston’s first ever trip to Nashville as the two faced off with Arkansas in Fayetteville last season. The ‘Dores defeated the Cougars 176-164 last season in the tri-meet.
