NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Southeastern Conference announced the women’s tennis coaches’ preseason poll Thursday afternoon with the Commodores predicted to finish third in the SEC.

A powerhouse league in the world of women’s tennis, four SEC schools competed in the 2016 NCAA Sweet 16 with Vandy the last SEC school standing. Nine SEC teams currently sit in the Oracle/ITA Top 25 rankings, the most of any conference. No. 1 Florida was predicted by conference coaches to finish first in the league for the 11th time since 1991-1992. The Georgia Bulldogs were picked just ahead of the ‘Dores in second place.

Vanderbilt has been predicted to finish in the top three for three consecutive seasons. The ‘Dores begin play next weekend with the official start, the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, taking place January 27-29.

The preseason poll is voted on by the women’s tennis head coach at each institution and is based on a 14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 vote.
