CZECH REPUBLIC—Vanderbilt’s Maria Bulanova got off to a strong start at the European Championship Wednesday.
The Commodore freshman averaged 227.4 over eight games to sit in third place on the opening day of this prestigious international tournament, of which she is the defending champion. Her pin count was 1,819.
Nicole Sanders of The Netherlands knocked down 1,851 pins – a 231.4 average – to lead the 36 adult bowlers and Cajsa Wegner of Sweden was second with 1,825 pins. The field will bowl eight more games Thursday before the field is sliced to 16.
