Vanderbilt senior Luke Kornet was named to the preseason All-SEC second team, and the Commodores were picked sixth in the preseason poll by the league’s media members on Wednesday. Kornet was an All-SEC defensive team member in 2016 after leading the league in blocks.

The Commodores, under new head coach Bryce Drew, returns three starters and nine letter winners from last year’s team with finished 19-14 overall and made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2012.

Kornet and junior Matthew Fisher-Davis will join Drew at this year’s SEC Tipoff 2017, which will be held at Bridgestone Arena for the first time.

The 2016-17 campaign begins November 11, with conference play set to begin December 29. The 2017 SEC Tournament will be March 8-12 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
