NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cristina De Zeeuw earns her second weekly accolade as she was selected to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week. The national honor comes after taking SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

De Zeeuw garners both awards following her second career goal, which came in the 55th minute against the LSU Tigers on Sunday.

This is the second time in Vanderbilt soccer history that a student-athlete has earned a spot on the TDS.com Team of the Week. De Zeeuw is the first Commodore defender to crack the list, after Nicole Luckens was recognized as a forward in 2009.

Following a corner kick taken by senior Lydia Simmons, the Overland Park, Kan. native generated the Commodores’ third goal against LSU. Surrounded by Tiger defenders, De Zeeuw received Simmons’ serve, turned and headed the ball through the LSU defense for her second career goal.

Alongside the Commodore defense, De Zeeuw has helped hold competitors to just one goal in 284 minutes. Last weekend, VU defeated No. 14 Texas A&M 2-0 and LSU 3-0. Coming off back-to-back shutouts, the ‘Dores head into Friday’s contest against Tennessee on a three-match winning steak.

Vanderbilt, which is ranked ninth in the NSCAA South region, heads east this Friday to face in-state rival Tennessee. VU takes on the Volunteers at 6:00 pm CT on Friday, September 30th on SEC Network+.
