“During the 1960 and 1964 Olympic Games the world learned something about Tennessee State University and Nashville that many of us already knew. The world woke up to the wonderful Tigerbelles and their amazing coach, founder and mentor, Ed Temple.
“I had the pleasure of knowing Coach Temple since prior to the 1960 Olympics when I met him while visiting my cousin at TSU. Coach Temple was an outstanding coach – maybe the best – and a great developer of talent and character. He was a true trailblazer. But most of all, Ed Temple was my friend and one of the greatest people I have known. Ed Temple was a true hero.”
