Vanderbilt Athletics is partnering with Geaux Music Row on a relief drive to assist some of the many victims of Louisiana’s recent tragic flooding. The drive will occur Friday (Aug. 26) between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
With advice on needed supplies coming from the Baton Rouge mayor’s office, athletic staff and student-athletes will be accepting these specific items only:
Clothing
School supplies (pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, school bags, etc)
Water (bottles, gallon jugs)
Linens (sheets, blankets and towels only)
Similar to the very successful water drive a year ago for flood victims in South Carolina, a semi-trailer will be placed just off Natchez Trace on the southwest corner of Vanderbilt Stadium (Gate 2). There will also be a collection point on Jess Neely Drive in front of the east side of McGugin Center. Volunteers will only be accepting the specified items listed above per request from the Baton Rouge mayor’s office.
Fans attending Vanderbilt’s women’s soccer game Thursday evening against Florida State can also drop off the designated items at the entry gate.
A year ago, Nashvillians responded to a similar appeal by filling two semi-trailers that were delivered directly to the University of South Carolina campus with excess water donations being donated to the Red Cross.
