As they prepare to a launch a new era of Commodore basketball and begin their inaugural seasons at the helm, Vanderbilt men’s head coach Bryce Drew and women’s head coach Stephanie White will make their first public appearance together on Friday, July 29, for “Coffee with the Coaches” at Well Placed Smile.

Well Placed Smile, Nashville’s Learning and Development Center, offers lectures, personal and professional development programs, and community events that promote healthiness, happiness, and enrichment at work and in life.

“Coffee with the Coaches” — which is part of a lecture series called “The Coffee Series at Well Placed Smile” — begins at 7:30 a.m. In this lecture series, Well Placed Smile provides local and national leaders a platform to speak on topics of interest and influence, ranging from leadership, sports, ethics, healthcare, law, etc.

Business leaders, coaches, parents, athletes and fans are all invited to attend. Individual tickets are $50, and can be purchased HERE.

Individuals or companies can also sponsor a table HERE. The package for purchasing a sponsored table includes game tickets, a picture with the coaches at the conclusion of the event, and Vanderbilt fan gear.

Former Vanderbilt standout Caroline (Williams) Hipps, who played for the Commodores from 2004-07 and is now the director of business development at Well Placed Smile, will serve as moderator for the event.

“I am thrilled to welcome Coach Drew and Coach White to speak at Well Placed Smile because I can’t think of two people who better personify the brand,” said Hipps. “At Well Placed Smile, our mission is for individuals, leaders, and teams to walk away from a workshop, seminar, or lecture happier, healthier, and more engaged in all aspects of their lives. Coach Drew and Coach White will certainly deliver on this mission.”

Drew and White will speak on a variety of topics, including leadership and recruitment philosophies, integrating culture in a new place, goals and vision for the future, player development beyond the court and plans for engagement with fans and the city.

The event will conclude with a Q-and-A session that will give the attendees a chance to ask questions to the two new coaches.

“Coach Drew’s and Coach White’s commitment to succeed on the court is high,” said Hipps, “but their expectations for professionalism, servant leadership, community building and integrity as a person are even higher.”

“Most importantly, Coach Drew and Coach White understand how to create the environment necessary to win at life,” Hipps said. “No matter the profession we are in, I believe we can all learn from the leadership philosophies of two impressive coaches who are excited and willing to open their arms to this community.”
